Billy Woodward is an award-winning, multi-disciplined artist based in Brooklyn, New York, with a focus in animation and music. Woodward, an accomplished singer-songwriter himself, has consistently explored the intersection of music, animation, and design throughout his career. Most recently, he garnered acclaim by winning a 2022 Motion Award for Best Film Graphics in a Documentary for his contributions to ‘Ricky Powell: The Individualist’ (Tribeca Film Festival) and had his work prominently featured in the film ‘David Crosby: Remember My Name’ (Sundance).
He served as the Art Director for the video department of Rolling Stone Magazine, where he led a team in creating animated shorts based on archival Rolling Stone interviews. Woodward’s talents have also extended to the stage, as he performed in both the Broadway and First National Touring Company productions of ‘Million Dollar Quartet.’ Moreover, he made his mark as a featured performer with his original music in the PBS series ‘Sun Sessions,’ recording live sessions at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, TN.
In 2022, Woodward released his debut full-length album, ‘The Boy From The Bay,’ and launched his boutique art agency, ‘Backslider Brand.’ He has earned two Emmy Award nominations and the award for Best Roots EP at the 13th Independent Music Awards.
